A simple homemade hot chocolate made with milk, cocoa powder, and coconut palm sugar, with an optional hint of vanilla. Rich, lightly sweet, and quick to prepare on the stovetop. Ingredients do not have to be organic. That is a personal choice.
In a medium saucepan over low heat, whisk together 2 tablespoons milk, cocoa powder, and coconut palm sugar until smooth. Sift cocoa or sugar first if lumpy.
Taste and adjust sweetness if needed by adding a little more cocoa powder or sugar.
Add the remaining 1 cup of milk and whisk to combine. Heat gently, stirring often. Do not let the milk boil.
